Farrer Residents’ Association

The Farrer Residents Association Inc (FRA) aims to enhance the residential, suburban, social and environments qualities of Farrer, consistent with garden city planning principles, through participation in community discussion and input to planning and land management in the ACT as it impacts on the residents of Farrer and adjacent suburbs, including through advocacy to the ACT and Commonwealth Governments and advocacy to and representation before tribunals and courts.

Farrer is colloquially known as “Farrerdise”

Previous achievements

  • Negotiated the development of Goodwin Village reducing the height of buildings by two stories and ensuring the environment melded with the gardens of Farrer.

  • Petitioned successfully for the popular Farrerdise Nature Play and Bike Skills Track.

  • Petitioned successfully for the public toilet that is to be built at the Nature Play.

  • In conjunction with City Services Volunteer Park Care and The Tree Unit, planted and maintain the environments in the parks at Gatton St, Wagga St and Moodie St.

  • In conjunction with Floriade planted, maintained and enjoyed floral displays at the shops.

  • Conducted an exciting Kite and rocket day.

  • In conjunction with the City Services Graffiti Officer, advocated for and coordinated the installation of a mural at the shops by the Wiradjuri Artist Kristie Peters.

  • Coordinated with Farrer Ridge Parkcare Group to have local Ngunnawal Elder, Wally Bell, tell about a scar tree on Farrer Ridge.

Future Activities

  • Planting of natives and exotic plants at the Wagga St Park 30 April 2022

  • Planting of Floriade garden beds at the shops 4 June 2022

  • Watering the Floriade garden daily (join the roster team !)

  • Floriade at the shops September - October

  • Celebration of the opening of the toilet expected before mid 2023
