On Wednesday 20 November the Woden Valley Community Council executive committee hosted a hospitality evening for a broad cross section of members of the Woden community who had contributed to WVCC over the past 18 months or so. Approximately 50 ?? guests were in attendance.

There were several brief speeches addressing the formation and achievements of WVCC since its formation in mid 2001. WVCC   was honoured to have Federal Member for Canberra, Ms Annette Ellis MP present as our special guest and Guest Speaker.

Ms Ellis spoke of the roles and functions that 'community' and Community Councils
can play in today's Canberra society and how 'community' is in partnership
with business and government. She offered special insights from a Federal parliamentary MP’s perspective.

In closing, WVCC Chair, David Menzel thanked all those who had attended the evening and expressed particular appreciation to the Hellenic Club for supplying the venue and refreshments for the night.
